Change-a-Word

These Change-a-Word Word Circles will be great to use as a whole group at the beginning of the year for my 1st graders.  They would also work well towards the middle or end of the year for students to complete individually.  Click on the image below for the FREE download.
I'd love to know what you think and if you'd find these useful in your classroom :)

  7. I LOVE this! What a great way to get kids thinking about how they can change one letter of a word to make another word. I am going to use this on my Smartboard! Thank you!

  8. Jodi,
These are great! I think they would work particularly well during the fall.
A little later in the year, I use this Word Ladder Book from Scholastic for morning work:
    http://www.amazon.com/Daily-Word-Ladders-Grades-2-3/dp/0439513839

They BEG me to do work ladders- they love them! I allowed them to work in groups and that really helped with the ones who could not read all the clues. The book that I had was actually made for 2-3 grade, but we started it after Christmas break and they did really well with it. I think what you have created would get them used to the feel of word ladders.
Great post! I'd love to see more! :)

  19. Cute!!This would go great in my word work centers! One thing you could add if it would go in an independent center would be words they could cut out, glue to the page, then write the word. I have a short vowel game posted on my blog and www.thebestofteacherspayteachers.blogspot.com that would go great with this too!
