Mending a Broken Heart Fundraiser

**This fundraiser has been closed.  If you are still interested in donating to Katelyn, you can still visit her site at www.COTAforKatelynn.com. {You will not be receiving the files below.}

Dear friends...I would like to introduce you to a 2nd grader from my school.  Her name is Katelyn and she is awaiting a new heart.

She LOVES Justin Beiber, so she has a cardboard cutout in her hospital room
{Picture taken from the Terre Haute Tribune Star}
Still enjoying school while in the hospital {Picture taken from the Tribune Star}
Katelyn was born with Complex Congenital Heart Disease.  She is missing the pulmonary valve in her heart, so her right ventricle never grew.  She was given a pacemaker last April, but as her health continued to worsen, it was decided that she needed a life saving heart transplant.  Unfortunately, her condition continues to deteriorate and she has now been admitted to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis until she receives a new heart.
As you can see from the pictures above, she is always smiling!
Our school has been working hard to raise money for Katelyn's heart transplant through the Children's Organ Transplant Association.  You can find Katelyn's page HERE.  You can also read the latest article from the newspaper HERE.
 {If you've been following my blog for awhile, you may know that organ donation really hits home with me, especially heart transplants.  My brother-in-law received a new heart last January that saved his life!}
Here is where you can help out and get some WONDERFUL products in return!  As you know, the teachers in the blogging world are so generous and absolutely amazing.  They have teamed up with me to donate their teaching products.  For a $25 donation {feel free to donate more if you would like}, you will receive all of the following items.

This is over a $130 value all for a minimum of $25 that will ALL be donated to the Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) in Katelyn's name.  Click here to download a PDF of the pictures above with links to each product's TpT location.

  2. Jodi,

    If anyone can raise a substantial amount of money to help Katelyn and her family, it's the blogging community. Teachers are such special people and I have no doubt we can help make a difference. Jodi, you are such a caring person and I am super proud and honored to be a part of this fundraiser. My thoughts and prayers are with sweet Katelyn and her family.

  6. SO happy to help, Jodi! How wonderful for Katelyn and her family to have such support from you! I am from Indianapolis, but spent many summers in Terre Haute at my Grandma's house. If I have stalked you correctly, then I know where your school is located (right down the street from my grandma's old house!) and how much Katelyn's family will benefit from this amazing thing you're doing!

  15. This is such a great thing you are doing. I actually have a boy in my class who has a degenerative neurological disease and I'm thinking of doing something similar for the family. Would you be able to email me to let me know how I could get started? I would appreciate any guidance or advice.

    By the way - I donated of course (how could I not after seeing that sweet smile), but I accidentally put my email instead of my name - so gauhs16@yahoo.com is for me (Melissa Machan). Thanks so much!
